With epic twists and turns, ‘Better (for) Now’ is the new single from Jessie Marcella on the Yorkshire-based analog horizons label.

Hailing from Leeds, UK producer and composer Jessie Marcella has always been drawn to deep, emotive soundscapes. Classically trained in the clarinet, Jessie found early inspiration for her own work from the likes of artists Sigur Rós and Björk, but beyond this, much of Marcella’s inspiration for her music comes from nature, growing up in Devizes, Wiltshire, a small, peaceful market town on the outskirts of Bristol.

Championed by the likes of Sian Eleri and Jaguar on BBC Radio 1 and winner of Youth Music's Music Producer Award in 2022, Jessie has seen a string of releases on Reflections / Anjunabeat and analog horizons, alongside live appearances at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, The Great Escape and Amsterdam Dance Event.

Better (for) Now is about instinctively reacting to a sudden and unexpected situation, doing everything you can in that moment, but totally unsure of what the future will hold. The track simultaneously provokes both determination and melancholia.

A fuller-bodied dance track, with a higher tempo, Jessie has combined both hard-hitting dance music with sparse neo-classical elements. Sampling a collaboration between Thrupence and Josh Hooke named ‘Composite 01’, she re-pitched the piano to draw specific attention to a melody that struck a chord with her immediately.
